Free Speech & Headlight Cowl

Free Speech & Headlight Cowl

Ida B. Wells-Barnett was a force to be reckoned with and my personal shero. After an angry white mobbed burned down the Memphis newspaper she co-owned—called the Free Speech and Headlight—and ran her out of town for starting her anti-lynching campaign, she went all over the country spreading awareness. She settled in Chicago and helped elect the first Black Alderman, contributed greatly to women’s rights, and co-founded the NAACP, just to name a few of her accomplishments. This cowl pattern honors her work and her memory.
